On Saturday, December 4th, 2010, I curated and hosted Puppets from the Edge with puppet artist, Hannah Miller at the Gallery at Avalon Island in downtown Orlando. Puppets from The Edge was an evening of short form puppetry for adults, during the 2010 Orlando Puppet Festival.

On November 18th, 2010, I was a guest teacher for Susan Simpson’s History of American Puppet Theater course at CalArts through the Cotsen Center for Puppetry and the Arts. For this class which included a mixture of graduate and undergraduate students, I presented my multi-media artist-talk, Object/Fetish: Staging the Suspension of Disbelief in Every Day Life.

Goblin Party Interactive – Orlando Film Festival (performer)

On Friday, November 5th, 2010, I  performed David Bowie’s onscreen role of Jared, the Goblin King in Goblin Party Interactive – a theatrical screening of Jim Henson’s dark musical fantasy film, Labyrinth. Ibex Puppetry presented Goblin Party Interactive in a similar format of the Rocky Horror Picture Show with live actors performing in front of the screen, audience costumes and participation, and with the added touch of puppetry and indoor kites.  The performance was part of a special late-night screening of Labyrinth at the Orlando Film Festival at the Plaza Cinema Cafe Theater 7.

An Actress in Search of an Exit, (actor, voice-over, film)

I was an actor and did voice-over work in Jane Pickett’s short adventure serial,  “An Actress in Search of an Exit”.  In it, I played an eccentric gutter punk.  The film screened on August 24th, 2010 at Laemmle Monica 4-Plex in Santa Monica, for the LA 48 Hour Film Project.

Dawn of the Apocalypse

 

On June 19th, 2010, I performed as an anthropomorphized oil spill in Dawn of The Apocalypse, a song response to the Deepwater Horizon spill with music composed by Melissa Dunphy.  I performed Dawn of the Apocalypse at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center at the culmination of the 2010 National Puppetry Conference.
