The Puppet Slam Network fostered connections for independently produced puppet cabarets, so that puppet artists knew where they could perform, venues could find puppet artists, and audiences could enjoy an intimate, tactile, and compelling form of entertainment. In June 2011, I was the recipient of the Connecticut Guild of Puppetry Scholarship to participate in the the National Puppetry Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford, CT. While at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center I worked on Web of Mystery, in which a spider dances with it’s puppeteers before overtaking one of them, and as an assistant puppeteer on Leslie Cararra-Rudolph’s Wake Up Your Weird, in which a candy obsessed five year old must process her feelings after getting bullied out of a play date.

On April 27 8-10pm, I presented my Artist Talk at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore for Valeska Populoh’s graduating class in the Fiber Department. While at MICA I spoke about performances like Growing Up Linda and Bride of Wildenstein – The Musical.
This artist talk was made in conjunction with my performance, Fudgie’s Death at the 14Karat Cabaret and my presentation Object/Fetish at a salon/art party in the H&H Arts Building as part of the 2011 Transmodern Festival.
On April 2nd, 2011, I hosted a puppet cabaret at the Nafe Katter Theatre with long-time Blood from a Turnip collaborator, Vanessa Gilbert. The line up included short-form puppet acts from Great Small Works, Big Nazo, Michael Sommers, and Kate Brehm. The cabaret was part of Puppetry and Post Dramatic Performance: An International Conference on Performing Objects in the 21st Century at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT.
In the “The North American Puppet Slam Scene in 2010”, I was interviewed by Teresa Smalec for Puppetry International on my work as a curator of short-form puppetry for adults and in my role as co-founder of the Puppet Slam Network.
