On December 30th, 2014, an entry on Object of Her Affection was published in Big Art Group’s 2015 Contemporary Performance Almanac, edited by Caden Manson and Jemma Nelson. Object of Her Affection is a solo puppetry and object performance art piece centered on a woman, who in her search for true love develops intimate relationships with inanimate objects.

Growing Up Linda – Birthday Trauma, Orlando (exhibition)

Puppets and props from Growing Up Linda – Birthday Trauma were part of No Strings Attached, an exhibition that highlighted various art forms encompassed by the craft of puppetry. Curated by Ibex Puppetry, the exhibition ran from October 15th – November 12th, 2009 at Gallery at Avalon Island in downtown Orlando.  Growing Up Linda was an ensemble actor-puppetry performance that looked at the off-kilter world of the daughter of a famous ice cream mogul.

On May 15th, 2009 I earned my MFA degree from California Institute for the Arts (CalArts) in Scenic Design in the Puppetry track from the Theater School and the Cotsen Center for Puppetry and the Arts. I attended CalArts between 2006-2009 under the mentorship of Janie Geiser and Susan Simpson and developed two major productions, Growing Up Linda and Bride of Wildenstein – The Musical,.

From May 7th-10th 2008, The Cotsen Center for Puppetry and the Arts and CalArts School of Theater presented a workshop production of Growing Up Linda in Ensemble Theater 2 in Valencia, California, where I was in my 2nd year as an MFA student in puppetry and scenic design. Growing Up Linda was an ensemble actor-puppetry performance  about the daughter of a famous ice cream mogul who must come to terms with her troubled past.

UNIMA-USA (Support)

 

In 2008, I was the recipient of funding from UNIMA-USA for the run of Growing Up Linda at the Edinburgh FringeGrowing Up Linda,  was an ensemble puppet piece in which the daughter of a famous ice cream mogul must come to terms with her troubled past. Based in Atlanta at the Center for Puppetry Arts, UNIMA-USA  is the North American Center of Union Internationale de la Marionnette, the oldest international theatre organization in the world. UNIMA-USA’s mission is to promote international understanding and friendship through the art of puppetry.

Interdisciplinary Project Grant – 2008 (support)

In 2008, I was the recipient of an Interdisciplinary Grant from the California Institute of Arts for the workshop of  Growing Up Linda at CalArts and the premiere at Venue 13 in Edinburgh. Growing Up Linda was an ensemble actor-puppetry performance in which the daughter of a famous ice cream mogul must come to terms with her troubled past. Interdisciplinary Project Grants, administered through the Office of the Provost at CalArts support projects with a significant interdisciplinary element.

The Guilford Courier (press)

2006 - Gilford Corier & The Sound - "an eyecatcher"

On April 13th, 2006, The Guilford Courier ran a piece on Art In Motion: Invitational Exhibition of Puppets, and covered an installation of my puppets and set pieces from Growing Up LindaBirthday Trauma.  In the article, “Imagination and Skilled Hands Combine in Puppet Exhibition at GAC”, Leah Lopez Schmalz characterized my instalation as an “eye catching”.

New Haven Registrar (Press)

On  April 8, 2006, The New Haven Registrar wrote about Art in Motion, a gallery exhibition which included puppets, props and set from Growing Up LindaBirthday Trauma. In the article, “Guilford Art Center exhibit offers chance to see marionettes as the works of art they are”, my work was characterized as “quirky” with “wicked humor and edginess”.
