On May 15th, 2009 I earned my MFA degree from California Institute for the Arts (CalArts) in Scenic Design in the Puppetry track from the Theater School and the Cotsen Center for Puppetry and the Arts. I attended CalArts between 2006-2009 under the mentorship of Janie Geiser and Susan Simpson and developed two major productions, Growing Up Linda and Bride of Wildenstein – The Musical,.

Feast of Fools #395 – Life on Marsian, Chicago (appearance)

On September September 25, 2006, I was a guest on Feast of Fools #395 – Life on Marsian. Feast of Fools which later became Feast of Fun, is a Chicago-based LGBTQ comedy podcast hosted by Fausto Fernós and Marc Felion that showcases celebrity guests, artists, musicians, actors, and members of the LGBT community and those who support them.  This particular show was recorded over the phone on the Valencia Campus of CalArts shortly after I arrived there for my MFA degree.

Kate Bornstein, Feast of Fun (podcast)

On September 18th, 2006, Kate Bornstein appeared on the Chicago-based LGBTQ comedy podcast, Feast of Fun Podcast #390 – A Fate Better Than Death,  to discuss their book, Hello Cruel World: 101 Alternatives to Suicide for Teens, Freaks and Other Outlaws. In talking with Fausto Ferños and Marc Felion, they briefly discussed my performance work.

School of the Art Institute of Chicago, BFA (education)

In May 2001, I graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) with a BFA in Studio Art. At the graduation ceremony, DJ Spooky was a featured speaker and was awarded an honorary degree. While at SAIC, my focus was in Transdisciplinary Studies with a concentration on performance and puppetry.

On November 22nd, 1996, I organized OpenWord: Slip of the Tongue, as part of Speak Easy, a text and language performance series at N.A.M.E. Gallery in Chicago, curated with Lorraine Moretti. The series included four evenings of performances and a workshop located in the Time Arts Space which was transformed into an  Independent Comic Book and Zine Reading Room curated by Suz Szucs, which included murals by Jessica Able, Carol Jackson, and Lisa Ormerod. Speak Easy corresponded with the opening of word up! in the Exhibition Space at N.A.M.E. Gallery. Speak Easy ran from November 22nd – through December 31, 1996
