On Sunday, November 5th, 2006, I curated and hosted Puppets from the Edge at Mad Cow Theatre in Orlando

Puppets from the Edge, PSN, 2006

with Heather Henson. Puppets from the Edge was an evening of short-form puppetry for adults at the 2nd annual Orlando Puppet Festival that ran from November 1st through November 5th. The lineup included Harmony McChesney and Gary Alexander with Medea, Mark Baratelli with Improv-Cabaret, Wavy Davy with Rant, Shitty Bedford and Kevin Huey with The Dawning of Melted Telephone, Tom Blasco with Fleece in Space, James Donmoyer and Scotty Shoemaker with Stupid SciFi, Elaine Corbitt with Zombie Vacation, and Omnipresent Toychest with Akshun Fogyerz

PuppetSlam.com – soft launch

On March 9th, 2006 I launched Puppetslam.com, a website that cataloged, connected, supported, and generated awareness for adult evenings of short-form puppetry and what would evolve into the Puppet Slam Network over the next decade.

Teaching artist-in-residence, Warwick, RI

In May 2005, I was a guest teaching artist-in-residence at Oakland Beach Elementary School in Rhode Island working with grades 1, 3, and 6. Lead artist-in-residence, Amy Lynn Budd, had students create a performance response to the film, Yellow Submarine. I came into the class room a handful of times to assist with mask work and puppetry and aspects of the project (both construction and performance).

School of the Art Institute of Chicago, BFA (education)

In May 2001, I graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) with a BFA in Studio Art. At the graduation ceremony, DJ Spooky was a featured speaker and was awarded an honorary degree. While at SAIC, my focus was in Transdisciplinary Studies with a concentration on performance and puppetry.

Nursey Nurse, Chicago Access Network

On February 28th, 1998, I appeared on the first episode of Abuctions with Alterboy, a comedy talk show on Chicago Access Network hosted by creator, Mike Anthony. For the interview, Kathleen “Snatchleen” O’Shea and I appeared as Star and Twinkie – The Giovanni Sisters, identical twin sisters who grew up near a PCP testing plant just outside Gary, Indiana. While recounting our tale of alien abduction through hypnosis from our therapist, played by Motay, we aired a segment from Nursey Nurse, a surrealist video art piece Pippin Roe and I collaborated on.

Feet, Chicago (installation performance)

On March 23rd, 1997, Kathleen O’Shea and I collaborated on Feet an interactive performance-installation at Randolph Street Gallery in Chicago in which we performed alternative spa treatments on viewers. Feet was as part of  Faeries to the Rescue, organized by the Chicago Radical Faerie Circle to support Randolph Street Gallery, an artist run space.
