Coalition for Lesbian + Gay Civil Rights (LGBTQ activism)

In July 1993, I became the Youth Outreach Coordinator for the Coalition for Lesbian and Gay Civil Rights. As Youth Outreach coordinator, I advocated for anti-discrimination legislation protecting LGBTQ students in Massachusetts public schools through organizing letter writing campaigns, rallies at the state house, lobbying days, public speaking and working with the media. InNewsweekly – 4/19/93 (LGBT activism press)

On April 19th, 1993, In Newsweekly, ran a story on my friend, Jessica Byers, who was then on the Governor’s Commission for Gay and Lesbian Youth. Jessica inspired me to volunteer with the Coalition for Lesbian and Gay Civil Rights to advocate for the Gay and Lesbian Student Rights Law in Massachusetts. Patriot Ledger 2/25/93, Quincy, MA (Press)

On February 25th, 1993, The Patriot Ledger (Quincy, MA) ran a story on the work of the Governor’s Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth in Massachusetts. The Commission laid the groundwork for the Gay and Lesbian Student Rights Law, which I worked on the passage of in 1993.
