From 2013 to 2017, I worked on a number of projects with comedian, Julie Brown ranging as a puppet and prop designer and performer.
JULIE BROWN
Julie Brown is best known for her work in the 1980’s where she often played a quintessential valley girl character including in her music video, Homecoming Queen’s Got a Gun, and her film, Earth Girls Are Easy. Much of Julie Brown’s comedy comes from parodying celebrities like Madonna, the subject of her Showtime special, Medusa: Dare to Be Truthful.
PROJECTS
I collaborated with Julie Brown on Homecoming Queen’s Got a Musical, Julie & Maria Witch Hunters, and her performances at UnCabaret and with Improvatorium.
Homecoming Queen’s Got a Gun
The Musical
BACKGROUND
This musical comedy about a school shooting and demon possession was adapted from Julie Brown‘s 1983 hit, Homecoming Queen’s Got a Gun.

SYNOPSIS
Something’s not right at Betty Ford High, people are starting to drop dead, but no one has time for that, because there’s a new a Homecoming Queen to crown! Like for sure! Join Julie Brown, as Julie Brown and her best friend Debbie Dickey (Drew Droege) as they count down the minutes and the student bodies, until Homecoming!
PUPPET DESIGN
I designed a humanette puppet used by Drew Droege for the infamous homecoming scene.
Sometimes called a “living doll”, a puppet manipulated in front of the puppeteer, with the puppeteer’s head, and sometimes hands, appearing as that of the puppet.

Typically, the puppet body is much smaller than the human head. The puppeteer manipulates the hands and/or body to bring the character to life.
