Not Alone, Brooklyn (puppets on film)

On October 26th, 2013, Trish Sie’s short film – Not Alone,  which I puppeteered in, had it’s premiere at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Not Alone, the official music video for Ben Taylor’s song, follows a lonely sock who searches everywhere for a soulmate.

Produced by Fixer Media, Not Alone, featured sock puppets operated as marionettes that in post-production had their strings and controls removed. I was joined by Erik Finck in animating these socks, with Adrian Rose Leonard serving as lead puppeteer.

While the video for Not Alone dropped online April 29th, 2013, it had it’s public premiere on October 26th, 2013 at BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) for Puppets On Filman annual festival curated by Cheryl Henson, Z. Briggs, and BAMcinématek.

Puppets on Film ran from October 25th-27th, 2013 at Brooklyn Academy of Music and was presented by BAMcinématek and the Jim Henson Foundation. The Shortstack! Kids Shorts Program, which included Not Alone, featured a bevy of ingenious shorts for children with whimsical, unique and beautiful characters. Not Alone also ran during the 2014 Puppets on Film as a well.

Lyrics:

So long to wait,
I’m always holding you, however far you go away.
You leave, I stay.
No matter where you roam, you know I’m with you all the way.

You may be a lot of things, but you’re not alone,
you’re not alone.
You may be a lot of things, but you’re not alone,
you’re not alone.

I can’t forget, I’m always holding you,
I draw you in with every breath.
Same song, same sky,
So far away.
I sing along to make the time go by.

You may be a lot of things, but you’re not alone,
you’re not alone.
You may be a lot of things, but you’re not alone,
you’re not alone.
You may be a lot of things,
You may be a lot of things, but you’re not alone,
you’re not alone.

If it’s December and the winter’s blowing cold,
Just you remember I’ll be warm when you come home.

You may be a lot of things, but you’re not alone,
you’re not alone.
You may be a lot of things, but you’re not alone,
you’re not alone.
You may be a lot of things,
You may be a lot of things, but you’re not alone,
you’re not alone.
